The Sudanese army reveals behind the scenes of the “short agreement” for the ceasefire

A statement from the Sudanese military clarified the details of the agreement that was signed and said:

“In recognition of the Saudi and American mediation efforts, and to relieve our citizens of the repercussions of the sinister rebellion, and to facilitate their humanitarian and living aspects, the Sudanese Armed Forces signed on Saturday evening in Jeddah an agreement for a short term . – long-term ceasefire and humanitarian arrangements”, with the Rapid Support Forces. “The duration of the short-term ceasefire is 7 days, and it will come into effect on Monday, at 9:45 p.m..” “The agreement is limited to the military and technical aspects of temporary ceasefire agreements, measures for the freedom of movement of civilians and their protection against violence and violations.” The agreement included “the aspect of evacuating hospitals, maintaining service facilities and related matters, without discussing any political situation”.

The Sudanese army affirmed its “commitment to the text of the agreement”, expressing its “hope” that the Rapid Support Forces would respect it.

Freedom and Change welcomes the agreement

For its part, the Forces for Freedom and Change welcomed the temporary armistice agreement signed in Jeddah and called on the two parties to “follow the path of a peaceful political solution as the only way, instead of fighting “.

She said in a statement:

“We call for full commitment to the Jeddah Declaration of Principles, the short-term ceasefire agreement and the humanitarian arrangements.” “We hope that this agreement will be another step towards a complete cessation of this cursed war, and a peaceful political solution as the only way, instead of fighting that will only destroy our country.” “We renew our thanks to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States for their sincere efforts to end the fighting in Sudan, and we salute all regional and international efforts that have contributed to this important step, and we call on the development of internal agreement and external coordination to harness and sustain this progress and achieve a comprehensive and lasting solution.” “We assure our patient and persevering people that we, in the forces of freedom and change, will do whatever who is in our power to contribute positively to efforts to end the war, in a way that alleviates the suffering of our people and ends this tragedy. , and preserve the unity and sovereignty of our country and establish its peace and the freedom and welfare of its people.”
