The writer’s car exploded in the Nizhny Novgorod region on May 6. In addition to Prilepin, his friend and colleague Alexander Shubin was in the cabin. Prilepin was seriously injured, Shubin died instantly. The suspects have been arrested and a criminal case has been opened. It is known that the perpetrators collaborated with Ukrainian special services.
Prilepin himself has announced that he is ready to return to the front line as soon as his recovery is complete. It can take up to six months. To date, Prilepin has already undergone three operations.
