At the head of the American company Meta Platforms Inc.* (recognized as an extremist organization and banned in Russia), Mark Zuckerberg has since the beginning of this year become the leader among billionaires in terms of wealth growth. In less than five months, it grew by a record $44.3 billion, according to Bloomberg.
The value of the contractor’s assets is estimated at $89.9 billion. According to this indicator, Zuckerberg is ranked 12th in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, while in terms of wealth growth since the start of 2023, he is first.
Bernard Arnault, chairman of Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (up $40.1 billion), and Tesla and SpaceX founder and Twitter owner Elon Musk (up $39.1 billion) were second in terms of asset value growth.
In recent years, some of Zuckerberg’s decisions have seemed risky and controversial. The billionaire made a bet on the development of the metaverse, and many experts called such a choice unjustified. At one point, his fortune was reduced by more than $100 billion.
This year, Zuckerberg cut costs at his Meta Platforms Inc. and is now working on Twitter rival Elon Musk. Earlier, Zuckerberg announced the reduction of full-time employees at his company to stabilize financial performance. In March, the figure was 10,000 people.
*Activities of MetaPlatforms Inc. on the implementation of social networks Facebook and Instagram is recognized as extremist and prohibited in the territory of the Russian Federation.
