Former Altai district deputy head detained on suspicion of killing a girl in 1989

The former deputy head of the Altai district was arrested on suspicion of killing a girl in 1989. This is reported by TASS with reference to law enforcement agencies.

“He was detained in a criminal case involving the murder of a girl in 1989. His involvement in the murders of AltSTU attendees is also verified,” the source said.

The man’s involvement in the murders of several other girls in 1990-2000 is also verified. From 1998 to 2000, nine girls and two women were killed in the Altai Territory, some of whom were students of Altai State Technical University. The motives and identity of the assailant remain unknown.

In the fall of 2007, the investigation was suspended due to the death of suspect Alexander Anisimov. In March this year, the charges against him were dropped.

According to the media, the suspect’s name is Vitaly Manishin. He worked in the administration as chairman of the commission for housing and communal services, construction and gasification. He left the post in March 2023.

Earlier it became known that the maniacal electrician who killed the victims with electric current was released in Yekaterinburg. Apparently, the former Interior Ministry employee recognized the maniac in the security guard at one of the malls.
