Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Three French Police Officers near Lille: Community Mourns their Loss

Throughout the day, residents have been laying floral tributes in front of the police station in Roubaix to pay homage to the three officers killed in the collision, which occurred around 7 am in Villeneuve-d’Ascq, close to Lille. The officers were aged between 24 and 25.

The impact was severe, with one car completely crushed and a police van in the ditch. The driver of the other car also lost their life, while the accompanying passenger sustained injuries.

Wrong-way driving

According to preliminary investigation findings, the car that collided with the police van was traveling in the wrong direction. Both occupants of the car were known to the police for drug use and offenses.

An ongoing investigation is being conducted to determine the exact causes of the accident. A psychological support unit has been established at the Roubaix police station.”
