Italy urged to allow Russian athletes to participate in international tournaments

The Italian government is in favor of the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee for the federations on the admission of athletes from Russia and Belarus to tournaments in a neutral status.

As explained by the President of the National Olympic Committee of Italy, Giovanni Malago, his country supports the position of the IOC, and will comply with it on its territory.

According to the official, it is time to really remember the main Olympic principles and remove the politics from sport.

At the same time, the Italian cabinet promised to formalize its position in the form of an official note, urging other countries to follow suit.
