“Demodex lives in the pores of the face, feeding on the sebum secreted by the skin while you sleep,” said dermatologist Dr. Scott Walter.
He added: “During its active periods, the demodex finds a place inside the pore pits to lay its eggs, meaning the next generation will spawn from it.”
Walter pointed out that this mite is harmless, but lack of attention to hygiene can lead to skin problems such as folliculitis, which can occur due to immunodeficiency.
