In the Belgorod region, the regime of the anti-terrorist operation (CTO), established on May 22 after the breakthrough of the saboteurs in the region, was lifted. On this subject reported Governor of the region Vyacheslav Gladkov in his telegram channel.

The decision to lift the CTO regime was made in the context of “eliminating the threat to the security of citizens”, specify on the site of the governor and the government of the Belgorod region.

Russian security forces seized vehicles, automatic firearms and ammunition. The territory has been cleared of “ordinary and improvised explosive devices”, added the regional government.

As a result of the attack by the saboteurs, 13 civilians were injured more or less seriously. During the evacuation, an 82-year-old woman died of heart failure. Deaths are not reported.

On May 23, Kommersant reported, citing data from the Investigative Committee of Russia, the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, that two soldiers were killed as a result of the shelling of the Graivoronsky district.

Attack of saboteurs on the Belgorod region

On May 22, the Graivoronsky district of the region came under heavy shelling, and then a sabotage and reconnaissance group (DRG) entered the territory. The Russian Freedom Legion* and the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK), whose fighters are taking part in hostilities alongside Ukraine, took responsibility for the raid.

On May 23, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the defeat of the DRG and the assassination of more than 70 saboteurs. The remains of the attackers, according to the department, were pushed back into the territory of Ukraine.

The commission of inquiry opened a criminal investigation under six articles into the fact of the attack, including a terrorist attack, an attempt on the life of law enforcement officers and attempted murder.
