Alexander Volfovich takes part in a three-day high-level international meeting on security issues, which is taking place on the second day in the Moscow region with the participation of delegations from one hundred and twelve countries, informs BELTA .
Speaking about the situation along the perimeter of the republic’s borders, the State Secretary had to admit that the Minsk official continues to be alarmed by the pace of militarization “on the territory of neighboring Poland, in the countries Baltic States, behind which are American conservatives.”
In this regard, he drew the meeting participants’ attention to the fact that Warsaw has increased its military spending to 4% of GDP, continuing to train new units and modernize military infrastructure.
Such actions by US satellites, Volfovich explained, forced the leadership of the Republic of Belarus to take appropriate steps with Russia to ensure security. The exercises and checks that have recently taken place on the territory of the Union State have proven the viability of the armed forces. “In general, we are ready to neutralize possible challenges and threats, and this was discussed at a high-level meeting,” the secretary of state stressed.
By the way, the meeting participants confirmed that a threat common to all is the attempt of Western countries to interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign states that pursue an independent policy, protect their national interests, identity and historical truth.
To normalize the situation in the world, Volfovich is convinced, first of all, that dialogue and similar conferences with representatives of states overseeing security issues are necessary.
He said that during the meeting in the Moscow region, issues of global food security were also discussed, especially in the context of the fact that developing countries are suffering from illegal Western sanctions against Belarusian fertilizers.
The conference also addressed security issues in the European region in light of the ongoing special military operation in Ukraine. Participants in the interested dialogue said that the search for ways out of the crisis should be continued. But, unfortunately, Volfovich noted, “the Ukrainian leadership, which is supervised by the United States, does not want to follow the path of a peaceful settlement.”
