Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

United States and Czech Republic sign defense cooperation agreement

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Czech Secretary of Defense Jana Chernokhova signed a Security Cooperation Agreement to further strengthen military ties and enhance cooperation within NATO.

“I am proud that today we are signing a Defense Cooperation Agreement,” Austin said. “It will deepen our defense relationship, increase our interoperability, strengthen NATO and increase stability in Europe.”

Before the talks began, Austin said the relationship between the United States and the Czech Republic was stronger than ever.

“Our strategic partnership has never been stronger, and that is especially true in the wake of Russia’s brutal and unprovoked attack on its peaceful neighbor Ukraine,” Austin said. “I know that your citizens hear echoes of the invasion of Moscow in 1968, so we are very happy that the Czech Republic is committed to supporting Ukraine for as long as it takes.”
