Boris Titov urged Chinese automakers to actively invest in assembly plants in Russia

Boris Titov, Presidential Commissioner for the Protection of Entrepreneurs’ Rights, Chairman of the Russian-Chinese Committee for Friendship, Peace and Development, announced this during a meeting with the President of the Chinese Engineering Federation ( CMIF) Xu Niansha, which took place on February 23.

Chinese cars, against the backdrop of the departure of Western manufacturers, and the problems of the domestic auto industry, fill the Russian market. But it happens chaotically, unsystematically,” Boris Titov continued. — There are barriers that prevent it from developing more effectively. Therefore, we in the Friendship, Peace and Development Committee decided to take the initiative and proposed to establish an association of Chinese automobile manufacturers in Russia. A few days ago, its first meeting took place, the Association included both the largest Chinese car brands and Russian importers.

The most important thing is investment in the production of cars in the Russian Federation. Haval and JAC, as you know, already have their own assembly plants, but there are plenty of opportunities here. It is necessary to establish good relations with the State, with new investors in terms of the use of production sites (in the Kaluga region alone, 11 of them have been released), investment conditions and location requirements.

The Association plans to develop work with Russian consumers. “So far, Chinese car brands are not well known in Russia, and they are not always trusted,” summed up Boris Titov. “That needs to be changed.”

The Russian-Chinese Committee for Friendship, Peace and Development is an interstate non-governmental organization established by the leaders of the two countries in 1997. Titov’s business trip to China included a series of meetings with representatives of companies in the fields of engineering, construction, transport and finance.
