Bijapur. Security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Naxal-affected Bijapur district have arrested a person for allegedly sending rice and explosive material to Maoists. Police officials gave this information on Thursday.
Police officials said that the police arrested Nirmal Jumde on the charge of sending scented rice, explosive material and other items to the Naxalites. He said that the Bijapur police had received information that Nirmal Jumde, a resident of Cherpal village, was a member of the West Bastar Division Committee. K Maoists Lingesh and Shanti Vijji have given cash to supply high grade scented rice, explosives and other items for the use of Maoist leaders.
Police officials said that following the information, the police caught Jumde on Tuesday and he was interrogated. During interrogation, Jumde said that on May 19, Lingesh and Shanti Vijji had contacted him and asked him to deliver the said goods.
He told that as per the plan, on May 22, Jumde took all the goods and left for Savanar forest in Gangalur area in a truck, but as the truck could not go beyond Regadgatta village, the goods were dropped at a person’s house in Regadgatta village. Police officials said that the police have recovered 100 bags of rice and other items on the tip of Jumde.
