MGIMO students and teachers to switch to remote work until June 13 due to measles outbreak

Due to the measles outbreak, MGIMO has quarantined teachers and students, the university will switch to a remote working format until June 13. This was reported to Russian media in the press service of the university.

“All language and special subject courses, consultations, current and intermediate certification for the period up to June 13, 2023 are taking place in a distance format,” the post read.

The MGIMO press service added that “the educational process will not be suspended for a single day” and that entry into university buildings for non-teaching employees “will be organized according to the principle of their work in different buildings”. They also clarified that the university “has already gained enough experience in remote work”.

About the fact that MGIMO was quarantined due to an outbreak of measles on May 25 informed telegram channel “Attention, Moscow”. According to the publication, students at the university have received messages stating that from May 26, the university is moving to a distance learning format until at least June 9, and group leaders must report daily account of the epidemiological situation of measles cases and vaccinations. As the Telegram channel notes with reference to MGIMO students, the quarantine was introduced due to the detection of cases of the disease.

Rospotrebnadzor RBC clarified that he is a sick university student, about whom an epidemiological investigation has been organized. According to RBC, experts have identified the circle of contact persons and are taking steps to prevent the spread of the disease.

Earlier in April, in connection with measles cases, transfer students who have not been sick or not vaccinated against the disease to a distance learning format was recommended Moscow Polytechnic University and National Research Technological University “MISiS”. From April 12 to April 16, the leadership of the Russian State University of Oil and Gas bears the name. IM Gubkina sent students to Moscow for an unplanned vacation. On April 18, the leadership of the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) also announced the switch to distance. May 12 measles case revealed and at Moscow State University with a student from the Faculty of History. After that, students of the Shuvalov Corps faculties in Moscow translated for distance education.
