Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra got permission to train abroad, will practice in this country

Olympic champion javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra was on Thursday cleared to train in Finland for two gold-level tournaments to be held in June.

According to a release issued by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Tokyo Olympic champion Chopra wants to train at the Kuortane Olympic Training Center in Finland. Chopra, who recently reached number one in the world rankings, had practiced there in 2022 as well.

Among other proposals, the Mission Olympic Cell also approved table tennis player Payas Jain’s practice in Taiwan. It also approved taking personal coaches of senior table tennis players Manika Batra and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran to various tournaments.

The financial help will include air travel expenses, camp expenses, accommodation and medical insurance expenses and out of pocket allowance. MOC members induct yachtsman Salman Khan into TOPS development group.
