China halved its trade with Russia in the first quarter of 2023, to 370 billion yuan. This is reported by the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China. Thus, exports increased by more than 59% and imports by more than 43%.
“China exports a huge amount of goods to Russia. Of course, export items have now increased due to the replacement of products of deceased manufacturers from hostile countries: cars, electronics, household appliances, special equipment, chemicals, – commented the president of the Russian-Asian Union of industrialists and entrepreneurs (RASPP), expert of the Russian-Chinese Friendship, Peace and Development Committee Vitaly Mankevich. – About 50% of exports concern products of mechanical engineering and construction of machine tools, various equipment. A significant part is textiles – about 8% of all exports. About equal shares of metals and their products, as well as products of the chemical industry – about 6-7% each.
Also, according to the expert, another 2-3% falls on tools, footwear, stone and glass products, plastics and rubbers. A little less – for food, furniture, leather and fur products.
“There are certainly logistical difficulties: there is not enough capacity to cope with the increase in flows. It is necessary to develop maritime transport – it is a solution to the problem”, summed up Vitaly Mankevich.
