Dmitry Mezentsev, who is taking part in a joint meeting of the presidiums of the university centers of the two brotherly countries in the Belarusian capital on Friday, May 26, drew the attention of journalists to the fact that scientists are indeed working on the formation of a single space science and technology over the past two years.

According to the Secretary of State, the consistent work of the National Academy of Sciences, the Kurchatov Institute and the Russian Academy of Sciences, the involvement of the Standing Committee of the SG, mainly in support of allied programs financed from a single budget, is a clear confirmation of the plans and instructions “which were determined by the heads of state of Russia and Belarus”.

He explained in this regard that before the end of this year he was instructed to complete the work on the strategy for forming a single scientific and technological space. “This is the basis for ensuring competitiveness, technological sovereignty, new training programs for specialists,” Mezentsev stressed, adding that it is also an opportunity to save money by joining forces in implementing implementation of fundamental projects.

As SOYUZ previously informed, a delegation of the leadership of the Russian Academy of Sciences and renowned scientists headed by Academician Gennady Krasnikov, President of the RAS, arrived in Minsk for a large-scale scientific dialogue. This is his first visit as the new head of the Russian Academy of Sciences since the elections held in September 2022, the agency said. The event is also attended by the president of the NRC’s “Kurchatov Institute”, Mikhail Kovalchuk.

The scientific elite will discuss research and development in the field of microelectronics, the research program of the branch of the National Research Center “Kurchatov Institute” in Belarus, joint projects within the framework of the programs of the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Basic Research and the Russian Science Foundation.
