Maharashtra: Five years rigorous imprisonment to a young man for sexually abusing a three-year-old girl.

Thane (Maharashtra). A court in Maharashtra’s Thane district has sentenced a man to five years’ rigorous imprisonment for abducting and sexually assaulting a three-and-a-half-year-old girl during a Ganesh immersion procession in 2018.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 6,000 on Vinod Bhola Kewat, 35, a resident of Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh. He lived in Thane’s Ambernath town. The order was passed on May 11 by Additional Sessions Judge, Welfare P R Ashturkar, but its copy was made available on Friday.

The prosecution told the court that the incident took place on the night of September 23, 2018, when the victim’s mother went to watch the procession along with her siblings and the girl suddenly went missing.

He told that when the girl’s mother and others searched for her, they found the girl sitting on the lap of the boatman at a secluded place. He was sexually assaulting the girl. He was caught and handed over to the police.
