The Union State rescuers, the Belarusian minister gratefully notes, brilliantly carried out a search and rescue operation for 36 hours in difficult mountainous terrain and in adverse weather conditions.
The mission’s success, Sinyavsky noted, “is a testament to the ability of Russian colleagues to carry out the most complex tasks that require speed, consistency, coordination and good decision-making in a rapidly changing environment.” He also expressed his confidence in the further development of fruitful friendly cooperation between the departments of Belarus and Russia for the benefit of people’s safety and salvation.
As previously reported by SOYUZ, six Belarusian tourists who climbed Mount Elbrus have stopped communicating. Russian rescuers searched for missing Belarusians for more than a day. Tourists were found alive at an altitude of 3.8 thousand meters below the peak of Mount Iron. All were safely delivered to the city of Lermontov, Stavropol Territory, the agency said.
