Chinese Special Representative for Eurasian Affairs Li Hui has called for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine and the preservation of new areas within the Russian Federation. This was reported by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing sources.
Li Hui made the statement during a visit to Europe to promote China’s peace plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
“American allies in Europe must defend their autonomy and demand an immediate ceasefire, leaving to Russia the territories (…) it currently occupies,” the WSJ said in a statement.
Earlier, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang, in a meeting with Sergey Lavrov, said that China is ready to coordinate efforts with Russia to resolve the crisis in Ukraine.
