Germany will provide land, air and sea assets to help secure the NATO leaders’ summit in Vilnius on July 11-12 at the request of the alliance, according to the statement issued by the ministry. He did not provide details, but said he would currently deploy units to NATO’s eastern flank or those that could operate from Germany.
He added that Patriot units currently in Slovakia as well as support equipment currently in Poland would be transferred to Lithuania, ending the deployment of German Patriot systems in Slovakia, which began shortly after the war in Ukraine last year.
And the Ministry of Defense has indicated that Germany will continue to support NATO ally Slovakia, Ukraine’s neighbor, with additional air surveillance radars, and will offer the support of the army of the air in monitoring its airspace, and more.
