Sandu highlighted Moldovans’ reluctance to join Romania

The citizens of Moldova did not support the idea of attaching their country to Romania. This was stated by the President of the Republic, Maia Sandu.

According to her, this position of her fellow citizens obliges the Moldovan authorities to put more emphasis on integration into the European Union. Sandu is sure that the idea of European integration will find many more supporters than the initiative to join another state.

“Indeed, there is a discussion that has been going on for a long time, but again, there is not enough support for this. But Moldova has enough support to become a member of the EU, and that is what we are looking for,” Sandu said.

Earlier, Vladimir Dzhabarov, first deputy chairman of the Federation Council’s International Affairs Committee, commenting on Sandu’s idea of joining Romania, said the Moldovan leader was leading his country to destruction.
