In implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect them both – and in the presence of the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves; His Excellency the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Fund for Development, Mr. Ahmed bin Aqil Al-Khatib, signed two development loan agreements amounting to 16 million dollars with His Excellency the Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Information Technology of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Camilo Gonçalves, to establish a primary care center in the South Rivers region and a cultural center for the arts in Peel view. The signing of the two agreements comes within the framework of the efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through the Saudi Fund for Development, to support development in developing countries and small island developing states around the world.

Since its inception in 1975, the Fund has implemented more than 700 development projects and programs in 85 countries around the world, and the signing of the two agreements marks the beginning of the Fund’s development activity in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, making it the eighty-sixth country that receives support and financing for development projects and programs from the Fund. closely with the Fund’s objective of supporting the healthcare and social infrastructure sectors. The first agreement will contribute to the construction of a primary care center in South Rivers, at a value of $6 million, with the aim of enhancing the quality of the health care sector, ensuring that the local population has access to the necessary health services, reducing chronic diseases, and helping reduce mortality rates in the region. The project will also work on Creating direct and indirect job opportunities, in addition to training medical staff and helping to enhance long-term health care and its resilience, while the second agreement, amounting to $10 million, was allocated for the construction of an artistic cultural center and a market for craft and agricultural products in Belle Vue, where it will operate The project will promote the craft, crafts, cultural and creative industries in the country, and will have important contributions to the promotion of tourism, economy, social and cultural growth and public health. The two projects will contribute to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 3, represented in good health and well-being, as well as Goal 8, represented in decent work and economic growth. The Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines said during his speech at the signing ceremony, “The Kingdom is one of the biggest supporters of our country, and it also has a pioneering role in the Middle East region, and we look forward, through the signing of these two agreements, to opening horizons for development cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and strengthening close relations between The two countries, whose history extends since the rule of the first prime minister of our country », for his part, His Excellency the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Fund for Development, on this occasion; The Kingdom’s commitment to promoting sustainable social and economic development in developing countries and Small Island Developing States, and supporting the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
