Patriarch Kirill has been fond of skiing since childhood, he rides very well and even performs beautiful tricks. This was stated in a conversation with Russian media correspondent Alexei Sochnev by the alpine ski coach of Vladimir Putin, former President of the Russian Olympic Committee (2001-2010) Leonid Tyagachev.
“Kirill tests himself through alpine skiing. He has learned to ski well since childhood and always checks by downhill skiing if he is ready for a big job. She’s an incredibly beautiful person. Besides the fact that we know he is a patriarch, he is an incredibly beautiful person, he knows skiing very well and his body, performs such beautiful tricks. For a skier, this is particularly cool. He’s a great guy, a great guy,” he said.
In the new edition of the Russian media Legend program, Tyagachev also said and on the high level of skiing of the President of Russia. According to him, he did “everything necessary for our president to skate better than the Austrian Chancellor”. The president’s personal trainer added that he introduced Putin to famous Austrian skier Karl Schranz, and after the first ski together the Austrians “recognized Vladimir Vladimirovich as a good technician”. Therefore, now in this sport, neither the leader of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, nor the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, can be compared with Putin.
“Vladimir Vladimirovich cannot be compared to anyone. I gave an example that the Austrian Chancellor skates less well than Putin. Lukashenko did a good job, he skied here on our track, and after that he built a ski center near Minsk<…> And Medvedev is just riding for fun, that’s all. We rode with him several times in Krasnaya Polyana, ”said the skier.
In 2012, Tyagachev bare an educational film on skiing whose main character was the president. According to him, initially filming practice sessions with Putin were only done so that he “visually saw how he rolls”, and no one was going to shoot the film themselves. At the same time, subsequently, the general director of Channel One Konstantin Ernst and the director of the All-Russian State Television and Broadcasting Company Oleg Dobrodeev took part in the filming, which took place, including in the region of Irkutsk.
“And the individual things (of the film)? We went to the city of Baikalsk with the whole team. Kostya Ernst and (Oleg) Dobrodeev accompanied us there. And we taught them to ride,” added the former president of the Russian Olympic Committee.
