People living in cities have to pay property tax to the government. This tax is to be paid on houses, shops and other commercial premises coming in urban areas.
This tax contributes significantly to the income of the municipal bodies. In case of non-payment of tax, the government also charges interest on the principal amount of the tax. Now the Haryana government has taken a big decision regarding property tax.
The government has now announced 30 per cent rebate in interest on property tax. Earlier the government was giving 10% rebate on interest. This means that if a person pays property tax now, he will have to deposit only 70 per cent of the total amount of interest along with the principal tax.
The government has decided to give 30 percent rebate in interest amount only to those who deposit property tax till July 31, 2023. The increase in interest subsidy by 20 percent will provide relief to all sections living in urban areas.
