Ind vs Aus, WTC Final 2023: India and Australia are all set to clash with each other for the ICC World Test Championship title. Both the teams will face each other on June 7 at the Oval ground in London. The final match of the ICC World Test Championship between the two teams will be played with Grade 1 Dukes ball. The matches will be played from June 7 to 11. June 12 has been kept as a reserve day.
The Indian team, led by Rohit Sharma, will be eyeing to end the drought of a decade of ICC (International Cricket Council) title. India won the last ICC title in 2013 in the form of Champions Trophy in England. After this, India had to face defeat in the final three times while the team lost in the semi-finals four times.
Ricky Ponting said this about Team India
Slowly this great battle is coming closer. Prior to the clash of the two teams, former Australian captain Ricky Ponting said that fatigue from the long season of IPL 2023 could be a loss for the Indian team. Ponting emphasized that fewer players from the Australian team were playing in IPL 2023. Because of this their team is fresh and their mindset is very fresh. Whereas, more Indian players were involved in IPL 2023.
Suniv Gavaskar replied to Ponting
Legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar took the lead to answer Ponting’s questions. Gavaskar refuted Ponting’s claim and stressed the importance of practice before important fixtures rather than the format of the game. Gavaskar insisted that the Indian team holds an edge over Australia, with most of the players in form. Cheteshwar Pujara has done brilliantly in IPL or county cricket.
Gavaskar told India Today, ‘For a big match, you need miles under your feet. And most of the Indian players have done that. Even a player who was not in IPL, Pujara was playing county cricket and scoring hundreds for fun. So yes, Team India is in a better position.
He further said, ‘I will give the edge to India. I do not agree that the conditions are in Australia’s favor.
