Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev fired the deputy head of the Main Directorate of the Interior Ministry of the Samara region, Major General of the Interior Service Yuri Safronov after checking the sales channels of a drink branded “Mr. Cider”, which killed over 30 people. On this subject reported at the department’s press center.

After checking stores, warehouses and vehicles, the Ministry found that methyl alcohol had been introduced into production as a result of theft from the warehouse of the “Economic Support and Service Center” of the regional department of the Ministry of the Interior. His boss, Internal Service Colonel Alexander Remnev, will also lose his job.

“This batch has been stored in the warehouse since 2012, after being removed during verification activities. At present, two residents of the city of Samara have been arrested by police officers for committing these thefts, and their accomplices are being identified,” the department said.

A police sergeant was also arrested, who was guarding the warehouse and allowing contractors to enter his territory.

Mass poisoning with the drink “Mr. Cider”, produced by the Samara LLC “Andi” at the private brewery “Varka”, has been recorded since June 5. A total of 31 people died after drinking the drink in different regions of Russia, at least 90 people were injured.

According to the results of 14 examinations, impurities of methanol and ethyl butyrate were found in liquids in proportions threatening the life and health of consumers.

Ulyanovsk Lenin District Court stopped owner of Andi LLC Anar Huseynov for two months. The businessman was charged with providing services that did not comply with safety requirements, which negligently caused the death of two or more people (part 3 of article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ). The penalty under this article provides for up to ten years in prison. Company executives Anton Frolov and Ramil Aslanov and chief accountant Polina Uskova were also arrested.
