Ruslan Nigmatulin: After China, Russia will start developing express delivery indicators

The express delivery industry continues to show strong growth in China due to weak cargo traffic dynamics, Chinogram reporters report. “In the week of May 29 to June 4, the logistics sector index, calculated based on data from the Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China, rose to 103.9% compared to the period of benchmark (May of last year), after regaining the drop seen the previous week. But the increase in the indicator is only due to the express delivery sector. The number of parcels accepted at the outset is at most out of 12 last months (+34.7% y/y), while the freight index is falling both under the influence of the seasonal factor and due to the limited nature of the Chinese economic recovery,” – says the message.

“The express delivery industry in China has been growing strongly for several years. The removal of covid restrictions from this year has only encouraged a further increase in mailings. These statistics indicate the strengthening of consumer confidence of the people of the country, and the growth of income indicates the restoration of production in the PRC,” commented Ruslan Nigmatulin, CEO of the Dalini Group of Companies, Chairman of the Growth Party in the Republic from China. Tatarstan, expert of the Russian-Chinese Committee for Friendship, Peace and Development.

The expert is sure that in Russia the indicators of the express delivery sector will also increase, since the prices of goods from manufacturers are more profitable even taking into account delivery by courier, since logistics is developed today, quick and convenient. And if earlier this service was used by individuals, now it is also actively demanded by companies, since there is no need to keep large stocks of goods in stock.

“I think the freight transport market will catch up. So far, it is influenced by the seasonal factor and the gradual post-pandemic recovery of the Chinese economy. As for freight transport to Russia, there is clearly a positive trend. Trade turnover between Russia and China in January-April 2023 increased by 41% and amounted to more than 73 billion dollars. China imported goods worth $33.6 billion to our country, an increase of 67% over the same period in 2022. For example, at the beginning of 2023, the cargo flow between China and Russia through auto checkpoints in the Far East increased by almost 1.5 times compared to the same period last year and exceeded 75,000 vehicles. At the same time, the cost of transporting containers from China to Russia, both by sea and by rail, has not yet decreased, since there is still a shortage of containers, ”notes the expert of the Russian Committee – Chinese for friendship, peace and development.

Forecasts for further growth of cargo transport to our country and, in particular, to one of the most prosperous regions of Russia – Tatarstan – Nigmatulin are connected with the construction of such a terminal as Deng Xiaoping.

“This named logistics center will become the largest in Russia and will receive e-commerce goods from China and send them in the opposite direction, especially polymers produced on the territory of the Ethylene 600 industrial park. The railway terminal will have 6 ways. Design handling capacity – up to 8 container trains per day, cargo turnover – 100,000 containers or 2.4 million tons of cargo per year. The total area of storage facilities will be 100,000 square meters. Now construction and preparatory work is underway here. Completion of the first phase of the project is scheduled for the end of 2023,” says Ruslan Nigmatulin.

The head of the Dalini group of companies believes that we must build such terminals throughout the country as a continuation of a large-scale restructuring of logistics.
