UAE hosts UN Youth Conference on Climate Change

The UN Youth Conference serves as a platform for climate action, capacity building and policy training to prepare young people for participation in international climate discussions and events.

The youth-led and organized conference aims to make the voices of young people heard in various international arenas. It also offers young people the opportunity to discuss and support international policies on climate change and to promote change locally and internationally.

The annual conference, organized by the Youth Wing of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (YOUNGO) within the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), is part of the work of the worldwide network of children and young people of the youth section. activists and NGOs that shape international policies on climate change and represent formal youth interests in UNFCCC processes.

This edition of the youth conference focuses on the contributions of young people to the three main components of the conference, namely the policy document, the capacity-building and skills-building workshops, which bring together the collective demands of children and young people. of the whole world.

For her part, Khalifa Balaith, representative of the Green House Youth Climate Research Center Club at New York University Abu Dhabi, said: “The workshops will empower young people, while opening the door to dialogue and supporting innovation, to raise awareness of the importance of their role in activating the Sustainable Development Goals, so that they become effective weapons. To address the multifaceted challenges posed by climate change, which embodies the vision of the UAE government to create a global role model for the personality of young people who are leading a new stage in climate action decision-making.

The UNFCCC Youth Wing and COY18 Hosts will work with a strong shared commitment to equip global youth to engage in global climate discussions, contribute to key elements of COY18 and its official outcome document, the Global Manifesto of Youth (GYS), and contribute to the organization of an international event for youth, a success for the climate.
