Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

KCR hits out at BJP over ‘privatisation’ move in coal, power sectors.

Hyderabad. Chief Minister of Telangana K. Chandrasekhar Rao has targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the Centre’s move of alleged privatization in the coal and power sector.

Addressing a public meeting on Friday night after inaugurating the new integrated district magistrate’s office in Mancherial, he also attacked the Congress for “selling” its 49 per cent stake in state-run mine Singareni Collieries.Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) It is a Government Coal Mining Company, jointly owned by the Government of Telangana and the Government of India on 51:49 share basis.

Singareni Collieries, established during the Nizam era, belongs to Telangana, he said. Rao said the turnover of Singareni Collieries would grow from Rs 11,000 crore in 2014 (when Telangana was formed and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) came to power) to Rs 33,000 crore. He alleged that the Congress, when it was in power, had sold its 49 per cent stake in Singareni Collieries to the Center after failing to repay the loan.

The chief minister said the BJP-led central government was talking of privatization of coal mines and “sinking” the Singareni collieries. Let me tell There is no dearth of coal in the country. Singareni, Eastern Coalfields, Western Coalfields all together provide 361 billion tonnes of coal to the country and are available to the people.

Rao said, “But, what is happening in the country? When the country has 361 billion tonnes of coal reserves, they say we will privatize electricity, coal mines and stop electricity related jobs and hand over Singareni to private people. How bad policy is this? What is happening in the country? So much coal is available in India, but it is not being used and coal is being imported from Australia and Indonesia.

The Chief Minister said that injustice is happening across the country and to counter this injustice, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has been transformed into Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and this battle will be fought across the country. While the Congress half-submerged the Singareni Collieries, the BJP is now determined to submerge it completely. After his arrival in Bengaluru, tenders were called for coal mines.
