The front could not be broken. The results of the week of the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

For more than a week, the counter-offensive has continued. The main actions took place in the direction of Zaporizhzhia near the city of Orekhov and at the junction of the Zaporizhzhia region and the DPR – this is the so-called Vremevsky ledge near the urban-type settlement of Novoselka Velikaya. It was not possible to break through the front, Ukraine suffered heavy losses in equipment. In total, units from at least 19 Ukrainian Armed Forces brigades are involved in the fighting. How the counteroffensive develops and what tactical goals and strategic plans are pursued by the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – in the material of Russian media.

“Vremevsky ledge” – 11 brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Ukrainian armed forces managed to penetrate deep into the territory for 6 km towards the village of Urozhaynoye, while the front was not broken. Within a week the Ukrainians occupied Makarovka, Blagodatnoe, Neskuchnoe and Storozhevoe. Now there are fights in Makarovka, over the past three days it has changed hands several times. The village is located on a hill and allows you to develop an additional attack, so it is important for both the Russian and Ukrainian army. Russian units continue to hold commanding heights above the villages along the Wet Yaly River. Ukrainian armed forces attack the large villages of Staromayorskoye and Urozhaynoye.

Not all Ukrainian brigades engaged in this direction are fully known, but it can already be said with certainty that 11 brigades are involved in the fighting: the 1st tank brigade, the 68th separate jaeger brigade, two marine brigades (37th and 35th I) , four mechanized brigades (31st, 23rd, 24th and 72nd), three Teroborona brigades (129th Arey Brigade, 128th and 129th) and the 74th separate reconnaissance battalion. Of these, the 23rd, 31st and 37th are new brigades, whose military personnel have been trained and coordinated in combat in the EU and the UK.

In the entire history of the special operation, such a concentration of servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, 11 brigades, was recorded for the first time. “It’s more than in Orekhovo-Rabotino (8 brigades), and even more than in Artemovsk (Bakhmut)-Soledar (7 brigades)”, writing military and military journalist Alexei Akutin.

Judging by the photos and videos of the Ukrainian army, the village of Neskuchnoye was occupied by the Arey brigade – they released a video with the raising of the flag. Blagodatny’s video was posted by soldiers from the 68th Brigade. Previously, they fought near Ugledar.

The task of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is to enter the operational space and move towards Volnovakha or Mariupol. The fighting is fierce, there are casualties on both sides. Voenkor Yuri Kotenok informed that Russian Army Major General Sergey Goryachev was killed in the missile attack.

“Heavy fighting took place throughout the day yesterday (June 12) on almost the entire line of military contact of the Vostok group, in particular on the so-called. Vremievsky cornice. The situation is difficult in the defense zone of the 60th and 37th motorized rifle brigades. As a result of an enemy missile attack, the Chief of Staff of the 35th Combined Arms Army, Major General Sergei Goryachev, was killed,” Kotenok wrote. The Ukrainian side does not report its losses.

Levadnoye and Novodarovka, which Russian troops had to abandon, are now in the gray zone (that is, they are not controlled by anyone).

Orekhovskoe direction – 8 brigades

Eight brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were sent to the Orekhov-Tokmak-Melitopol direction. There was no breakthrough from the front, although, judging by the columns of heavy equipment, some of which exploded in minefields, the plan of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was to repeat the success of the offensive fast against Balakleya in the Kharkiv region. .

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have no serious successes, although they report control of several villages (about 6 settlements), not all of them were left by the Russian army, some of them were in the “grey zone” before the counter-offensive.

Photos of massively knocked out Western equipment on the march, which Russian fighters post, from this direction – under Malaya Tokmashka and Belogorye. For some time, due to heavy rains, the active movement of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stopped here. Fighting takes place in Pyatikhatki.

Now, presumably, the goal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in this direction is to occupy the intersection of the M-18 and H-30 highways in the Zeleny Guy area. From the village of Lobkove, which was occupied by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, about 16 km in a straight line. Control of the crossroads will cut the supply lines of the Russian army garrison in the city of Vasilievka (the road to Energodar departs from this settlement).

Here, too, it was not possible to establish all the brigades participating in the offensive, but known that the new and most publicized 47th mechanized brigade “Magura” under the command of Sergeant Valery Markus (Ananyev) suffered serious losses. This brigade is considered elite and trained to all NATO standards.

Also on this sector of the front were the 33rd and 65th Mechanized Brigades, the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade, the Kara Dag Brigade of the National Guard, as well as the 130th Reconnaissance Battalion and the 8th Battalion of the Ukrainian Army. of “Aratta” volunteers.

Another 14 units were damaged and abandoned by Ukrainian troops, and one Mastiff PPV anti-mine armored vehicle became a trophy. This list includes destroyed and abandoned tanks, armored vehicles, artillery and air defense equipment.

Above all, since the start of the counter-offensive, the ranks of the American International MaxxPro, which provides protection against mines, have thinned out. According to minimum estimates, 22 MaxxPros were destroyed and another 8 were abandoned by Ukrainian troops.

The week of the counteroffensive was marked by the first losses of German Leopard tanks, the advantages and disadvantages of which were described in detail by Russian media. Some of them exploded in minefields, others were covered by artillery fire. In total, according to minimum estimates, one Leopard-2A4 and one Leopard-2A6 were destroyed, two more Leopard-2Ps were abandoned by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Russian Ministry of Defense June 13 reported that the soldiers of the Vostok group captured the Leopard tank and the Bradley infantry fighting vehicle.
