Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

International Economic Forum opened in St. Petersburg

Representatives of the United Arab Emirates came to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum with songs and even dances. It is a guest country of the forum. The Emirates has the largest pavilion and grandiose plans to become the main trading center for Russian companies in the Middle East. Indian businessmen are ready to compete with the Emirates – they also have a large delegation, representatives of almost 100 companies.

“The St. Petersburg forum will represent Russia, it seems to me, correctly and somewhat on a large scale. It is quite an interesting, good and wonderful place where you can really experience business Russia,” says Akashdeep Singh, Chairman of the Indian Business Council.

Prospects for doing business with Russia attracted 17,000 people from 130 countries of the world to St. Petersburg. A special place belongs to the new Russian regions. On the first day of the forum alone, they signed dozens of cooperation agreements.

“It is important for us to develop companies that manufacture products with high added value. In order not to perceive the Donbass as it was before, the oligarchs used the Donbass as a raw material base. But the potential is much wider,” explains Denis Pushilin, acting head of the DPR.

Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions at the St. Petersburg forum for the first time. And they have something to show. Local products are presented at the Zaporizhzhia stand, including delicious Melitopol cherries. Here is a model of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant and the Sea of Azov. And everyone can see the Sea of Azov using VR glasses. I put it on and walk along the embankment of Melitopol, where I was recently on a business trip.

The task of the new Russian regions is to present to the world all their opportunities and prospects, despite the fact that hostilities continue on their territory.

“The temporary accommodation points are bombarded every day. There are points where people leave, gathering places near small objects. Buses take people there. There they struck with rockets, artillery, especially with the aim of inflicting damage on the civilian population. There are victims, including children and pregnant women,” said Volodymyr Saldo, acting governor of the Kherson region.

Nearby – Zaporizhzhia region.

“Today you can see our potential at the exhibition, which has not yet been fully unfolded, but in the near future – I think months will pass, and the whole country will be proud of the Cossacks – and will carry the high title of the region of Cossack glory,” says Evgeny Balitsky, acting governor of the Zaporizhzhia region.

Each region attracts attention in every possible way. Petersburg presents a range of drones and projects for the development of transport and tourism infrastructure. The Arctic treats everyone with venison coffee – of course we tried it. Moscow has gathered at its stand a line of people eager to taste ice cream from a robot, which in the future will usually be able to replace sellers and cashiers.

St. Petersburg forum robots have already become one of the main trends. You have to look under your feet so as not to inadvertently step on a robot dog, admiring the works of a robot – an artist ready to draw anything at your request.

The manufacturability of the economic forum is also confirmed by the abundance of media screens. By their number, they probably set a record – the total area is larger than a football field. Gazprom Neft presented on its stand the digital project “Energy in People”, created by a neural network.

“The visual manifesto ‘Energy in People’ is our dedication to man. It is a project about people and for people, about those who create energy and about those whose energy inspires us and drives us forward. Instead of machine technology, their creators came to the fore. At the center of each plot, the characters are representatives of the profession. With this project, we are paying tribute to the creative energy of man,” says Ekaterina Krasavtseva, project manager at Gazprom Neft.

From several hundred thousand photographs of real people, the neural network created 12 images – representatives of various professions of oil workers. It took four months to prove so effectively and clearly that the main value of the company is its employees.

“The main difficulty is to achieve maximum realism from these people. The neural network had to be constantly trained, to introduce new demands, so that as a result the faces would flow as smoothly as possible from one to the other. And that required a lot of research, experimentation, we constantly trained these neural networks. The neural network itself cannot solve some problems, and a person has to input some queries and provide some initial data. As a result, we had to modify this initial data several times, give these requests in order to obtain the most realistic result, ”explains Roman Kupriyanov, managing partner of the Radugadesign studio.

But not a single neural network can replace a human musician yet. At the Kalmykia stand, a song about love for the fatherland is heard – on the national percussion string instrument “yochin”.

Only professionals can show the fullness of the sound of chords – not only in music, but also in business. And for the next four days, St. Petersburg will become a meeting place for professionals of the highest level.
