Dhaka (Dhaka). Bangladesh cricket team has taken a step towards victory in the only Test against Afghanistan cricket team in Dhaka. Chasing a mammoth target of 662 runs, Afghanistan have scored 45/2 at the end of the third day’s play. Now Bangladesh need 8 wickets to win. Let us tell you that Bangladesh had declared their second innings at 425/4.

Batting ahead of yesterday’s score of 134/1, Bangladesh suffered a second blow at 191. Zakir Hasan was dismissed as the second wicket after scoring 71 runs. Najmul Hasan Shanto (124) and Mominul Haque (121*) scored brilliant centuries to help Bangladesh post a big total. Apart from these, Liton Das (66) scored a half-century and the hosts declared their second innings at 425/4.

Mominul came out to bat when Bangladesh lost their second wicket for 191 runs. Batting at a good run rate, he completed his century in 123 balls, which is the 12th century of his Test career. He scored an unbeaten 121 off 145 balls, which included 12 fours and 1 six. He also shared two good partnerships for the third wicket with Najmul and Liton Das.

Shanto has put his team in a strong position by batting brilliantly in both the innings of this match. He scored 124 runs in 151 balls batting at a strike rate of 82.12 in the innings. He also scored 15 fours in the innings. This was the fourth century of his Test career. Shanto added to the lead by sharing a crucial century partnership of 173 runs in 199 balls with fellow player Zakir Hasan (71) for the second wicket.

Chasing a mammoth target, Afghanistan got off to a poor start as Ibrahid Zadran was dismissed on the very first ball. Second opener Abdul Malik also could not touch the figure of Dahai and returned to the pavilion after scoring 5 runs. Afghanistan had lost the wickets of both their openers till the score of just 7 runs.


After this there was no loss to the team. Rahmat Shah (10*) and Nasser Jamal (5*) are safe at the crease till stumps are called.
