Historian Rogulev spoke about the vulnerability of the United States in relations with China

Despite US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s remarks that the country does not support Taiwanese independence, states will continue to act in ways that initiate power politics toward China. Director of the Franklin Roosevelt Foundation for the Study of the United States and Doctor of Historical Sciences Yuri Rogulev said so in an interview with Zvezda.

“It is their official position. They support the one China doctrine and maintain that it is China that represents all the people in the Security Council,” Rogulev said.

At the same time, the historian drew attention to the fact that all recent visits by the United States represented by Pelosi and McCarthy were to Taiwan at a time when the party advocating its independence was and is leading from the island.

“This statement, in fact, means nothing. They oppose this unification by military means. For this reason they say they are arming Taiwan so that China cannot take over. Formally, they support the idea of a united China, but in fact they are doing everything to keep Taiwan independent,” said Rogulev, a doctor of historical sciences.

The expert pointed out that, on the one hand, the United States talks about its reluctance to oppose China and, on the other hand, it increasingly involves Pacific states, including Japan, in the AUCUS, a defense alliance formed by Australia. , Britain and the United States, and the deployment of nuclear submarines in Australia.

“It’s all talk. The only thing that worries America is the economic relationship with China. They are afraid that China, with certain measures, could destroy the American economy, or at least cause it great harm,” Rogulev said.

According to Rogulev, China “has huge amounts of US debt on hand – over a trillion dollars.” In addition, the historian added, China has a huge surplus in its trade relations with the United States – 200 billion dollars. An American company that manufactures its products is also established in China.

“Of course they are interested in relations with China. First in its economic component. But at the same time, of course, everything will continue until pursuing a policy of force against China,” concluded the Americanist historian Rogulev.

Earlier, in talks with Xi Jinping, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said the United States does not support Taiwan independence. The change of position is linked to the objective of not worsening relations with China.
