Videos of people trying to talk to cats in their “language” are going viral on social media. For example, owners say “mr-meow”, and their pet immediately comes to them. It started with the videos of a blogger nicknamed Alecanewman, who “teaches” subscribers the language of cats in his tiktok. Russian media has discovered if it is possible to learn the language of cats.
Alecanewman teaches four phrases in “cat”:
“Food”; “Come to me”; “Wake up”; “It’s forbidden”.

Social media users film their videos using this “life hack,” and their cats often react as the blogger intended: they jump on the bed, run to the kitchen for food, and stop misbehaving.
Do animals really understand these “phrases,” Angelina Sirotina, animal psychologist and felinologist, told Russian media:
“A person in this case (when meowing – notes Russian media) a cat is very surprised. When we speak the language of our species, the human, we put a kind of semantic load in the words, which the cat reads precisely with the intonation that we put in our message. In addition, we carry a form of thought in this dialogue. Therefore, the cat reads us in a more informative way – our intention. When we meow, it is as if we spoke in a kind of abracadabra – pronouncing a set of sounds from the alphabet, which carries no semantic load.
And the way the people in the video manage to call the cats only tells them that they have been living with their pet for a long time and the animal has already studied their behavior. Cats read a person’s mood and emotions, no matter what he is saying at the time. That is, the animal already understands when the owner calls him or when he forbids the cat something.
“Even sometimes no words are needed. (…) For example, when the owner finds an unexpected “dirty thing” that the cat has done, it doesn’t matter where it is at the time… If the owner is bored and intends to complain about the cat, somehow scold him, at that time he is more will not find. Because she understands that now the owner will scold her, ”explains the expert.
