Modi’s visit in the eyes of American media

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to America is being discussed in the media all over the world. This tour has also received a lot of attention in the American media. PM Modi went to America as a state guest for the first time.

In other words, Modi went on a state visit to America for the first time. Modi also addressed the American Congress. PM Modi addressed the US Congress for the second time as Prime Minister. Modi has become the first Prime Minister of India to address the US Congress twice. There is a mixed reaction in the US media on Modi’s visit.

The American media has also prominently published the news of the boycott of PM Modi’s speech in the American Congress on behalf of many MPs. Apart from this, questions related to the rights of minorities in India, democracy and alleged attacks on Pros were also asked during PM Modi’s visit and these questions have also been raised prominently by the American media. About half a dozen Democrats MPs boycotted PM Modi’s speech in the American Congress.

Among them, Rashad Talib from Michigan, Little Bush from Missouri, Illan Omar from Mine Sora and Jamal Kakes from New York gave a joint statement boycotting Modi’s speech. The New York Times has given a prominent place to their shared statement. In the statement, he has said that the voice of religious minorities and journalists has been weakened by giving the platform of the American Congress to the Prime Minister of India. The New York Times has written that US President Joe Biden left no stone unturned to welcome Modi. Biden wants that when America’s conflict with Russia and China is going on. In such a situation, India should be with him. The most interesting thing in Modi’s visit was that Biden prepared Modi to take questions from the reporter at the Joint Pros Conference. In the past decade, it was rare for Modi, a nationalist prime minister, to take a reporter’s question directly. In response to a question asked from Modi about the rights of minorities and democracy in India, Modi said that democracy is in India’s DNA and no one is being discriminated against on the basis of religion.

The New York Times has written – Biden did not pay attention to the allegations of suppressing the voice of dissent in India under Modi’s rule and weakening the independence of Pros. In a report, the Washington Post has written that President Biden has defended India’s democracy despite questions arising from it. American news channel CNN also covered Modi’s visit extensively.

CNN writes in its report – Modi’s popularity is tremendous in India but his inclination towards authoritarianism worries the West. He has rejected the disagreement. Journalists have been targeted and the policies they have put forward have been described by human rights groups as discriminatory against Muslims.
