Medvedev predicted a confrontation with the West for decades and a nuclear apocalypse

The Russian politician compared the modern world to the Caribbean crisis.

The confrontation between Russia and the West can last for decades, said Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation. At the same time, a nuclear apocalypse is not excluded.

“The tectonic rift that has formed in understanding the future in different parts of the world will only get worse. No need to be a visionary to understand that the confrontation phase will be very long. The confrontation will last for decades,” the politician claims in his article “The Age of Confrontation,” published in Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

Medvedev compared the modern world to the Caribbean crisis. This is one of the most tense moments of the Cold War between the USSR and the United States. The crisis of 1962 almost degenerated into a third world war. The United States marked American missiles with nuclear warheads in Turkey, the USSR in response installed its missiles in Cuba. The United States imposed a blockade on Cuba and was ready to invade the country, but thanks to negotiations it was possible to agree on the withdrawal of Soviet missiles from Cuba and Americans from Turkey.

“Our opponents have decided to really defeat the greatest nuclear power – Russia. They are, no doubt, fools, but that’s the way it is. And the second reason is quite prosaic – nuclear weapons have already been used by who and where, which means there are no taboos,” writes Medvedev.

We are talking about the use of nuclear weapons by the United States of America – in 1945 it was they who dropped nuclear bombs on two peaceful Japanese cities, literally wiping them off the face of the earth – Hiroshima and Nagasaki . And now these facts are deliberately suppressed even in Japan itself: school children are told that the bomb was dropped, but they do not specify by whom, and in the context of the Second World War, they are sure that it was the USSR that did it.

Moreover, the current conflict, according to Medvedev, has already “caused a tension of an order of magnitude greater than that of the previous Cold War and extremely negative consequences”. In fact, the world is already on the brink of a third world war.

“Now the degenerate new generation of Western politicians are clearly unaware of what they are doing and what they are asking for. And they seem to have forgotten what our response will be if the provocations go too far,” warns the politician.

So that everything does not end in ruins and millions of victims, it is necessary to seek reasonable compromises, taking into account the interests of Russia and banning the Nazi regime from Kyiv.

In addition, the ex-president of Russia believes that the results of the confrontation must be documented and that a “careful reassembly” of the UN and other international organizations that have lost their sense of existence will also be necessary. . At the same time, it is unclear whether it will be possible to get out of the crisis, because the West is confidently pushing the world towards a Third World War, increasingly inciting the Ukrainian conflict.

The Cold War lasted 44 years and 9 months. The duration of the current world conflict is unknown. But it is already clear that the West has miscalculated on a number of points: Russia is not isolated, as its enemies expected, but everything is on the shelf. Political and trade relations are developing with Asia, Africa and Latin America. The dollar is losing ground. Many European and American companies left Russia, but their production facilities remained and the Russian economy did not collapse.

Earlier it became known that Russia blocked Western assets worth $150 billion.
