His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Eng. Waleed bin Abdul Karim Al-Khereiji, headed yesterday the Kingdom’s delegation participating in the ministerial meeting of the Coordinating Office of the Non-Aligned Movement, which was held in the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Baku. His Excellency delivered a speech during the meeting in which he expressed the Kingdom’s strong condemnation and denunciation of an extremist’s burning and desecration of a copy of the Holy Qur’an, at a time when Muslims around the world were performing the blessed Eid al-Adha prayer, pointing out that these repeated reprehensible acts cannot be accepted with any justification, and that they It clearly incites hatred, exclusion and racism, and contradicts international law and international efforts seeking to spread the values ​​of tolerance and moderation, rejecting extremism, and undermines the mutual respect necessary for relations between peoples and states.

His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs indicated that the Kingdom’s accession to the Non-Aligned Movement as a founding member, and its commitment to constructive participation in its meetings, comes as a clear indication of its belief in the positive role that the movement plays in serving just causes in the world, stressing the importance of joint action to confront the current challenges the world is witnessing to limit its effects.

His Excellency pointed out that the most prominent challenges that affected the peoples of the world are the phenomenon of climate change, which requires integrated international action, noting the active role played by the Kingdom in this regard, including the Saudi Green Initiatives and the Green Middle East, which the Kingdom aspires to contribute to increasing the covered area. trees by 12 times, and planting 50 billion trees, thereby reducing 10% of global carbon rates.

His Excellency renewed the Kingdom’s support for initiatives that promote innovation and finding creative solutions to face common challenges, taking into account the development interests of countries and the varying capabilities among them, expressing the Kingdom’s aspiration to strengthen relations with the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement, and to promote peace in the Middle East and the world.

His Excellency expressed the Kingdom’s always aspiration to strengthen relations with the member states of the movement, and to promote peace in the Middle East and the world, noting that Syria’s return to its seat in the League of Arab States confirms the keenness of the Kingdom and the Arab countries to support Syria to reach a political solution to the crisis that guarantees unity. He also expressed the Kingdom’s condemnation of what the Israeli occupation forces had done in the Jenin camp, stressing the Kingdom’s firm and historical position in support of the Palestinian cause, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed the Kingdom’s keenness to stand by the brotherly Sudanese people, and to continue its endeavor to find a political solution to the crisis to restore security and stability in Sudan. He also affirmed the Kingdom’s full support for the security and stability of the Kingdom of Morocco and its territorial integrity, praising Security Council Resolution (2654) issued on 27 October 2022 regarding the Moroccan Sahara, and its support for the efforts made by the Secretary-General of the United Nations and his Personal Envoy aimed at facilitating the resumption of the political process and reaching a realistic political solution based on consensus regarding the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, and it supports the autonomy scheme presented by Morocco as a constructive initiative.
