Washington, USA – In an exciting development, Xbox head Phil Spencer has disclosed that Microsoft and PlayStation have officially “signed a binding agreement to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard.”
Spencer took to Twitter to share the news, expressing his enthusiasm for a future where players have greater flexibility in choosing their gaming platform.
“We are pleased to announce that Microsoft and Play Station have signed a binding agreement to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard,” Spencer’s tweet read. “We look forward to a future where players globally have more choice to play their favorite games.”
While Spencer did not provide further specifics about the agreement, such as its duration or terms, this development closely follows Microsoft’s recent Federal Trade Commission trial, during which Spencer asserted his commitment to “do whatever it takes” to ensure Call of Duty’s continued availability on PlayStation.

During the trial, Spencer made a firm pledge, stating, “I’m making a commitment standing here that we will not pull Call of Duty – it is my testimony – from PlayStation. As you said, Sony obviously has to allow us to ship the game on their platform. But absent any of that, my commitment is, and my testimony is that we will continue to ship future versions of Call of Duty on Sony’s PlayStation 5.”
While many game players believe that this is not a good idea.
Back in December 2022, reports surfaced that Microsoft had offered Sony a 10-year agreement to retain Call of Duty on PlayStation, reported by Reuters, with Sony holding the rights to feature the game on PlayStation Plus, if desired. It remains to be seen whether this initial proposition forms the basis of the current agreement or if any modifications have been made since then.
The preservation of Call of Duty’s presence on PlayStation is undoubtedly a cause for celebration among fans who can now look forward to enjoying the popular franchise on their preferred platform with an added sense of assurance.
