WHO Warns of Dengue Fever Outbreak in Egypt: Travel Advisory for Tourists

CAIRO, EGYPT (TEH) – The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a warning about the potential outbreak of dengue fever in Egypt and several African countries. Recent data suggests that between 200 and 1,000 people may already be affected by the disease, reported the National.

Dengue fever is characterized by symptoms such as high fever, vomiting, dizziness, and bone pain. Health organizations have provided advice for tourists planning to visit Egypt in light of this health concern.

One of the recommended precautions is to limit travel within the country in order to minimize the risk of contracting the disease. When staying in resort areas, it is essential to use appropriate measures to prevent insect bites.

In hotel rooms, it is advisable to use fumigators and ensure that mosquito nets are installed on windows. It is crucial not to overlook the use of repellents while traveling. Additionally, as a preventive measure, tourists should wear clothing that covers all exposed parts of the body, advised by doctors.

Furthermore, individuals should closely monitor their health and body temperature. Upon returning to their country, it is important to inform healthcare professionals about any recent trips abroad.

Cases of infection with an unknown disease originating from Egypt are reported widely all across the globe. However, many health agencies have implemented stricter controls on flights arriving from Egypt. Prior to this, residents of the village of El-Alikat, near Cairo, exhibited symptoms of an unidentified illness.
