Elon Musk livestreams the border to give people first-hand information about the immigration crisis

Tech billionaire Elon Musk visited the southern border in Eagle Pass, Texas, on Thursday with plans to livestream a tour of the area to give people a sense of the real state of the current migrant crisis.

Musk, owner of Tesla, SpaceX and X, has shown significant interest in the current crisis along the border and has been posting about it frequently on his social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

On Tuesday he announced that he had spoken to U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, about the crisis, who confirmed it was a “serious problem.”

Musk, while donning a black cowboy hat, spoke live on his platform Thursday and said he was going to talk to officials and “observe the situation to get the real story.”

“This is real time, no filters,” he said. “What you see is what I see.”

Musk then said that, as an immigrant, he is “extremely pro-immigrant,” but explained that it is necessary to expand immigration that allows hard-working and honest people to come to the United States legally, but not immigrants who are going to break the law.

One of the fears he expressed was that the flow of illegal immigrants into the country could lead to the collapse of social services, just as New York City was buckling under pressure from immigrants being bussed in from Texas.

He was joined by Musk Gonzalez, who said he appreciated the tech mogul visiting the border to get an unfiltered image along the border.

The broadcast then went offline for a moment before returning with González further analyzing the situation along the border.

Comments on Musk’s livestream multiplied, as one user said: “It’s good to see Elon having to do the work of the MSM and politicians who are literally paid to do this but refuse.”

Several users loved that Musk was broadcasting live from the border town.

Others bragged about how great live streams are, and responses quickly corrected the user by saying “when they work.”

Still, others complimented or mocked Musk for the cowboy hat and sunglasses.
