UNESCO Prizes for Girls’ and Women’s Education awarded in Beijing

In turn, O. Azoulay thanked the Chinese government for its strong support to UNESCO, as well as Professor Peng Liyuan for his outstanding contribution to promoting the education of girls and women around the world.

The UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education is the only prize awarded by the organization to promote the education of girls and women. This year’s awards went to the China Children and Adolescent Foundation for its Spring Bud program and the Pakistan Girls’ Education Alliance for its Star School program.

The awards ceremony was attended by around 300 people, including representatives of UN agencies in Beijing, ambassadors of the respective countries, teachers and students from Chinese schools, as well as women’s representatives.
