Freddie Prinze Jr. discusses his parenting style and holiday traditions with his kids

Hollywood actor Freddie Prinze Jr., best known for his roles in ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ and ‘Scooby-Doo,’ recently revealed insights into his parenting style, particularly regarding his kids’ eating habits and holiday traditions. The 47-year-old actor, who is married to actress Sarah Michelle Gellar, is a devoted father to 14-year-old Charlotte and 11-year-old Rocky. Prinze Jr. is known for his strict approach to parenting, especially when it comes to ensuring his children are well-rounded eaters.

In an interview with US Weekly, Freddie Prinze Jr. discussed his disciplined parenting approach. He noted, “I’m very strict with my kids, so they eat everything. Even if my son Rocky doesn’t like something, he’ll say, ‘Dad, it’s not my favorite, but don’t worry, I’m going to finish it.'” This statement underscores Prinze Jr.’s commitment to fostering adaptability and good eating habits in his kids.

The actor also shared his views on holiday traditions and gift-giving. Despite his successful career, Freddie Prinze Jr. prefers simple, homemade gifts from his children. “I don’t ever want anything. I like the things that [my kids] make me,” he revealed, according to Yahoo. His wife, Sarah Michelle Gellar, respects this preference but still makes sure to give him small, thoughtful gifts.

Prinze Jr. recounted a humorous moment related to Christmas gifts, saying, “I remember telling Sarah one year, I go, ‘If I want something, I’ll buy it.’ And she goes, ‘Oh, there’s the Christmas spirit.’ I was like, ‘Well, no, I just mean I don’t want you to waste your money on me.’ And she goes, ‘Then say that! What you said was horrible, it sounded like Scrooge.'”

The family’s holiday traditions also reflect their desire for simplicity. To avoid the mess and stress of the holiday season at home, the Prinze Jr. family has opted for vacationing during Christmas. “We’ve been smart and the last few years we’ve gone on vacation for Christmas, so when Christmas morning [comes], we’re not there, so there will be no mess to pick up,” Prinze Jr. explained. They choose destinations with warm weather and activities like surfing, which he enjoys with his daughter, Charlotte.
