The 47-year-old star, married to actress Sarah Michelle Gellar, is a father to 14-year-old Charlotte and 11-year-old Rocky. Prinze Jr. emphasized his strict approach to ensuring his children are not picky eaters.
In an interview with US Weekly, Prinze Jr. shared, “I’m very strict with my kids, so they eat everything. Even if my son doesn’t like something, he’ll say, ‘Dad, it’s not my favorite, but don’t worry, I’m going to finish it.'” This statement reflects his commitment to instilling discipline and adaptability in his children’s eating habits.
The actor also discussed his perspective on gift-giving, particularly during the holiday season. Despite his successful career, Prinze Jr. expressed a preference for simple, homemade gifts from his children. “I don’t ever want anything. I like the things that [my kids] make me,” he said. His wife, Sarah Michelle Gellar, respects his wishes but still ensures to give him small, thoughtful gifts.
Prinze Jr.’s approach to Christmas gifts once led to a humorous exchange with Gellar, as he recalled, “I remember telling her one year, I go, ‘If I want something, I’ll buy it.’ And she goes, ‘Oh, there’s the Christmas spirit.’ I was like, ‘Well, no, I just mean I don’t want you to waste your money on me.’ And she goes, ‘Then say that! What you said was horrible, it sounded like Scrooge.'”
The family’s holiday traditions also include traveling during Christmas to avoid the hassle of cleaning up at home and to engage in activities they enjoy. “We’ve been smart and the last few years we’ve gone on vacation for Christmas, so when Christmas morning [comes], we’re not there, so there will be no mess to pick up,” Prinze Jr. explained. They choose destinations that offer warm weather and opportunities for activities like surfing, which he enjoys with his daughter.
