The administration of US President Joe Biden has imposed new trade restrictions on 93 entities from Russia, China, Turkey, the UAE, Kyrgyzstan, India and South Korea due to support for the Russian war effort in Ukraine, according to a memorandum published online by the federal government on Friday.
This measure would lead to placing these companies on the “Entity List” of the US Department of Commerce, which would primarily result in a ban on the export of US shipments to them.
The list includes 63 new entities from Russia, 16 from Turkey, eight from China and four from the UAE.
The Ministry of Commerce said that some of these companies were added to the list because of their role in transferring microelectronics to Russian military and intelligence authorities.
This measure comes as part of the latest in a series of sanctions and export restrictions imposed by the United States and its partners and allies in response to the continuing Russian war in Ukraine, which began on February 24, 2022, according to Al-Jazeera.
The United States also announced other sanctions on more than 500 people and entities due to the war and the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
