Law enforcement wielded batons to quell demonstrators during the May Day protests in Paris, the capital of France.
The May Day march in Paris commenced on Republic Square on Wednesday at approximately 2 pm local time, according to Anadolu.
Attendees of the demonstrations voiced demands for an escalation in the minimum wage, daily wages, and enhancements to working conditions.
Supporters of Palestine also participated in the protests, which drew the presence of prominent French trade unions. Demonstrators, brandishing Palestinian flags, clamored for an end to the sale and export of arms to Israel.
Amid the protest, which also welcomed the “yellow vests”, a directive was issued:
“For the honor of the workers – even if Macron doesn’t like it we are here”.
Security forces intervened against the protesters, bifurcating the group and employing forceful baton charges against demonstrators. As a result of police intervention, at least one individual sustained head injuries from the blows.
French media outlets reported that at least 15 individuals were apprehended during the May Day protests.
