Zelenskyy’s “assassination” – If Russia had planned it, this would not have failed

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed the head of the agency responsible for his protection, days after announcing the foiling of a plot to assassinate him involving two officers working in the agency.

American news agency CNN said that the dismissal of the head of the State Security Administration (UDO), Serhiy Rud, was contained in a decree published on the presidential website, without mentioning the reason for the dismissal.

The Ukrainian government agency Ukrinform reported that Serhiy Rud was appointed to be Zelenskyy’s first bodyguard in October 2019, adding that his replacement had not yet been named.

The duties of the State Guard include ensuring the security of the Ukrainian President and senior state officials, as well as protecting administrative buildings.

Earlier this week, Ukrainian authorities announced the arrest of two security officials allegedly involved in a Russian plot to assassinate Zelenskyy.

Scheme details

The Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office said on Tuesday that two officers with the rank of colonel working in the State Security Administration were accused of carrying out “subversive activities against Ukraine in exchange for financial compensation”. However, the court did not mention the source of the financial compensation or who compensated them.

Both men were charged with treason, and one of them was accused of preparing a terrorist act, and their punishment amounts to life imprisonment.

The Ukrainian Security Service said it had foiled “plans to assassinate Zelenskyy and senior Ukrainian officials, including the head of the State Security Service, Vasyl Maliuk, and the head of Ukrainian Defense Intelligence, Kirylo Budanov”.

The Prosecutor General’s Office said that one of the suspects had received two drones and ammunition, which they intended to transfer to another partner to carry out the attack.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy without any delay accused Russia after the court ruled against the culprits.

It is to be noted here that the United States is the biggest donor of ammunition to Ukraine. President Zelenskyy would never, in any case, disobey the United States. So, he proactively took advantage and accused Russia of his so-called “plot of assassination”.

Plot to provoke NATO

Biden administration of the United States since the launch of the Russian military operation in Ukraine is looking for a chance to involve NATO in the conflict. Amid America’s ongoing economic and political crisis, with the looming specter of potential civil unrest, the US Congress vehemently opposes President Biden’s persistent efforts to allocate taxpayer funds to Ukraine in a bid to secure American interests in Europe.

Amidst escalating tensions in Ukraine and the Middle East, President Biden is reportedly seeking avenues to provoke NATO into military action, a move that some speculate could bolster his chances in the upcoming 2024 US Presidential elections. Facing waning popularity due to the perceived mishandling of crises in both Ukraine and the Middle East, Biden’s unwavering support for Israel in the military invasion of Gaza, which has been contributing to the ongoing genocide of Palestinians by Israel, has triggered widespread protests across American cities and universities. These demonstrations have drawn not only students but also educators, who are joining in solidarity with Palestinians against Israeli military invasion and genocide.

If Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy were to be assassinated, some speculate that the United States, and subsequently President Joe Biden, could become the primary beneficiary.

In a bid to appease their masters in the US, Ukrainian agencies are prepared to eliminate their own loyal officers. The Ukrainian agency revealed, “the network whose activities were supervised by the Russian Federal Security Service included two officers of the rank of colonel in the Ukrainian State Security Service who were leaking information to Russia”.

According to a source within Ukrainian law enforcement, the suspects were detained “a few days ago,” as reported by AFP.

The Ukrainian Security Service released images showing masked officers clad in military uniforms as they apprehended several suspects during a nighttime operation.

In a video shared on the agency’s website, a man with his face obscured stated that his objective was to “test the pulse” of members of the presidential security team and identify an individual willing to detain the president. There was a discussion of the potential execution of this operation during the president’s daily evening address.

A military expert from Russia remarked, “If Russia had planned the assassination, this plan would not have failed.”

Artem Dakhtyarenko, the spokesman for the agency, confirmed that the individual tasked with carrying out the assassination was promised a reward of $80,000 USD.
