Who will finish where next season?

Another dramatic and enthralling Premier League campaign ended in May but don’t fret as the season will start again in August with 20 clubs competing for supremacy. While Euro 2024 is going on in Germany this summer, recruitment teams back in England will be boosting their squads while bettors and fans alike will, their Premier League predictions ahead of the new campaign.

This article will explore how the table could look in 2025 and assess which clubs will be pushing for a place at the top and which sides will be fighting at the wrong end of the table.

The Title Race

Manchester City clinched their sixth Premier League title in seven seasons and will be massive favorites to lift the trophy again. With Pep Guardiola potentially leaving the club in the next couple of seasons having first arrived at the Etihad Stadium in 2016, the manager and team will be eager to go out on a high and, will be determined to continue this winning run.

Arsenal are likely to be the main title challengers again, with Mikel Arteta’s men boosted by the fact they have earned another year’s experience of what it takes to keep the pace at the top of the table.

Liverpool, will be confident of maintaining their place in the top three but a title at the title may elude them this time. Following the departure of Jurgen Klopp, new manager Arne Slot arrives at a club going through transition which can of course present plenty of difficulties, not to mention stuttering form.

Battle for Europe

While many football followers will be backing City, Liverpool, and Arsenal to again finish in the top spots, predicting the order of the sides aiming for Europe is a little more tricky.

Aston Villa, who clinched fourth place in the 2023/24 season, have built a strong squad though it remains to be seen how they will cope with the demands of additional games in the Champions League. Tottenham too will look to strengthen and maintain their place in the top five.

However, Chelsea, now coached by Enzo Maresca following the departure of Mauricio Pochettino, and Manchester United will be desperate to improve on last season and push for a place in the Champions League.

Newcastle, too, should also find themselves pushing for a place in Europe and will have more consistency if they continue to improve their squad with talents like Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon who have already impressed Eddie Howe’s side.

The current make-up of the Premier League means there are a host of clubs pushing for Europe and one or two will certainly have to deal with missing out it is now such a competitive race.

Mid-table Mediocrity

West Ham will be hoping Julen Lopetegui comes in and improves on the results and performances of David Moyes though it seems unlikely the Hammers will go from top ten to top eight.

Crystal Palace could well go up a level under Oliver Glasner solidify their place in the top half of the table and rid themselves of any potential relegation trouble. However, much depends on the futures of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze who have been linked with clubs who have qualified for Europe. Brighton should continue to be safe in the comfort of midtable as they continue to make sound recruitment decisions. They’ll be aiming for more consistency with only domestic football to focus on this time around.

Wolves under Gary O’Neil earned enough points to be clear of any potential trouble last season and should have enough quality in the squad to avoid any danger again. Everton, meanwhile, will be hoping for a season of stability following relegation battles and a points deduction, and with Sean Dyche at the helm, they should be able to take a step forward and breathe more easily.

The Fight Against Relegation

Bournemouth enjoyed an impressive season with striker Dominic Solanke firing the Cherries to 12th with 19 goals but the side might struggle to hit the same heights this time. Brentford, too, could lose key player Ivan Toney while manager Thomas Frank has also been linked with other clubs so finding the right replacements could be key to their future. Nottingham Forest has finished 16th and 17th in their two seasons back in the big time and could find themselves at the wrong end of the table again.

The three promoted clubs will all be looking to consolidate having come up to the Premier League. Leicester, title winners in 2016, managed to keep hold of several top players when they were relegated in 2023 and will be ready to go again. Southampton and Ipswich though, will be favorites for the drop as they perhaps lack genuine Premier League quality. However the Tractor Boys have enjoyed two successive promotions from League One under the stewardship of Kieran McKenna and what they lack in top-flight experience, they may make up for in organization and tactical nous and could surprise a few.

The 2024/25 Premier League campaign is set to be another incredible campaign as the top teams attempt to halt Manchester City’s dominance and promoted trio Ipswich, Leicester, and Southampton battle to stay in the top flight.
