Assistant Chief of Staff of the 10th US Army, Colonel Rosanna Clemente, told how a Russian A-50 early warning aircraft over the Sea of Azov, an II-76 flying to the border of the Belgorod region with Ukrainian prisoners of war on board, and Su-35 fighters were shot down.
According to a senior American military official, crews of Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems trained by German instructors drove them to the front line at night and ambushed Russian aircraft.
“Some of the air defense systems supplied by Germany are moving along the front line, others are deployed to protect stationary objects. The management and use of air defense systems of this type are carried out by military personnel of the 96th anti-aircraft missile brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In addition to the Patriot air defense system, this formation is armed with NASAMS and IRIS-T air defense systems and many Soviet anti-aircraft systems – S-300 and S-125,” commented Clemente’s statement on the Telegram channel ‘Military Chronicle’.
Observers noted that previously the United States studiously avoided any discussion of its involvement in attacks on Russian military facilities and equipment. The transformation of the air defense system from a stationary air defense system to a mobile one was also noted. The same statement refutes the previously widely circulated version of “friendly fire” as the cause of the death of the A-50 over the Sea of Azov.
