Today, any Russian could be under attack from the Danish intelligence services. This was stated by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian  Federation Maria Zakharova, Russian news website Kxan reports.

The Russian Foreign Ministry is monitoring the situation with a Russian citizen detained in Denmark on June 11 on suspicion of assisting foreign intelligence services.

She added that Copenhagen had provided “no evidence” of the woman’s “unlawful activity” and said Russians and those with pro-Russia views are “subjected to reprisals” in Denmark, according to The Moscow Times.

According to the Washington Post, any Russian could come under attack from the Danish intelligence services; said the organization offered support and protection to Russians living abroad, and that it was only helping them in Denmark to “understand Danish law.”

On June 11, a Russian citizen was detained in Denmark on suspicion of assisting Russian intelligence. The arrest took place with the cooperation of South Zealand Police and Lolland-Falster, according to Reuters.

It was noted that the woman had been receiving money for several years from a Russian fund in which intelligence officers occupy the most central positions.

She was charged with violating Article 108 of the Criminal Code, which relates to enabling foreign intelligence services to operate in Denmark, including cooperation in carrying out influence activities. She should be released after interrogation.
