Strikes against Russia with Western weapons will stop if it withdraws troops from territories that Ukraine considers its own. British Foreign Secretary David Cameron announced this on Thursday, June 13, at a briefing for foreign journalists in London.
“If such strikes cause concern in Russia, then simply withdraw your troops,” TASS quotes him as saying. Cameron noted that Ukraine “has the right to self-defense, which includes the ability to use its weapons to strike within its own country and to strike Russian troops grouped on the border.”
In addition, the head of the British Foreign Ministry said that on June 13, the island kingdom will announce a new package of anti-Russian sanctions.
Earlier, in early May, Cameron paid an official visit to Kyiv and Lviv. Following this trip, he told reporters that he had begun “negotiations on 100 years of cooperation” between the two countries with the Ukrainian authorities. The British Embassy in Ukraine explained on social media that the new agreement should “build strong ties between the two countries across the full spectrum of relationships: from trade, security and defense, to science and technology, education, culture and much more.”
